Forgiveness requires honesty. First John 1:9 does not tell us to hide, minimize, justify, or rename our sin. It invites us to confess it. There is freedom in bringing the truth into the presence of a God who already knows it and has already made provision for it.
The gift of forgiveness does not require pretending we did nothing wrong. It gives us permission to tell the truth without believing the truth about our failure is the final truth about our identity. Confession becomes the doorway through which shame loses its power and cleansing begins.
May today’s declaration give you courage to be honest with God. May you trust that confession does not push Him away—it brings you into deeper fellowship with the One who is faithful to forgive and cleanse.

Genesis 50:20“But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good.”
Joseph's story reminds us that forgiveness does not require us to pretend evil was good. His brothers intended harm, and Joseph acknowledged it. Yet he also recognized that God had not surrendered His purpose to their actions.
This is one of the deepest dimensions of forgiveness: realizing that what happened to you does not have to determine what happens through you. God can redeem pain without rewriting history. He can bring purpose from places that once produced only pain.
May today’s declaration remind you that what happened to you does not have the final word. May God redeem your wounds, restore your perspective, and use even painful chapters for His good purpose.

Ephesians 4:31–32“Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger… be put away from you… and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another.”
Bitterness often begins as pain that was never processed. What hurt us becomes what we rehearse, and what we rehearse eventually shapes us. Paul does not dismiss the hurt; he warns us not to let it become bitterness.
Forgiveness requires us to pay attention to what pain is doing inside of us. Sometimes the person who hurt us has moved on while we continue carrying the emotional weight of what they did. Forgiveness does not change history, but it can change what history is allowed to do to our future.
May today’s declaration remind you to examine your heart without judgment. May God remove bitterness, soften what has become hardened, and teach you how to release what you were never meant to carry forever.

Matthew 6:14–15“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.”
Jesus connects the forgiveness we receive with the forgiveness we extend. This does not make forgiveness easy; it makes it necessary. We cannot celebrate God's mercy toward us while intentionally withholding mercy from everyone who has hurt us.
Forgiveness does not mean what happened was acceptable. It means we refuse to allow what happened to become the master of our hearts. The person who hurt us may never apologize, understand, or change—but through forgiveness, we can choose not to remain emotionally imprisoned by their actions.
May today’s declaration remind you that forgiveness is an act of freedom. May God give you grace to release what has wounded you without denying the reality of what happened.

David did not ask God merely to remove consequences. He asked God to transform his heart. That distinction matters. Forgiveness addresses what has happened, while transformation addresses who we are becoming.
As we close this week, consider whether you have been asking God only to forgive your behavior or also to renew your heart. The gift of forgiveness is an invitation into deeper transformation—a life increasingly shaped by the character of Christ.

Forgiveness is not simply about having a clean record; it is about becoming a new creation. In Christ, our identity is no longer anchored to our former behavior. God does not merely erase our mistakes—He begins rebuilding our understanding of who we are.
This is why forgiveness and transformation belong together. Grace does not give us permission to remain unchanged. It gives us the freedom to become who God has called us to be without constantly being chained to who we were.

The Story of Pastors Royce & Dionne Goree
Sometimes God expands a vision by expanding the family entrusted to carry it.
For years, Pastor Dionne Jackson—now Pastor Dionne Goree—led the charge of Declare Victory, stewarding a ministry born from prayer and built through faith, sacrifice, discipleship, service, and an unwavering love for God's people.
She had learned how to lead, build, pray, teach, encourage, and carry the vision God had placed in her heart. Yet, even while the work was growing, God was writing another chapter—one she could not have planned for herself.
God graciously sent her love, partnership, and a covering equipped and qualified to help build what comes next.
His name was Pastor Royce Goree.
When Two Stories Met
In 2023, Pastor Royce Goree and Pastor Dionne Jackson met, and what began as a connection soon developed into courtship.
Two people with their own journeys.
Two leaders with a heart for ministry.
Two servants who loved God and His people.
And, in time, two lives becoming one.
Their love story wasn't simply about finding companionship. It became the joining together of purpose, experience, leadership, ministry, and vision.
Pastor Royce brought with him years of pastoral leadership, having previously pastored Victorious Church. Pastor Dionne brought the legacy and foundation of Declare Victory—a ministry she had faithfully stewarded for years.
Together, they discovered that God wasn't asking either of them to abandon what He had already built through their individual lives.
He was bringing those experiences together for what He wanted to build next.
From Me to We
Marriage changed more than their names and relationship status. It created a new ministry partnership.
Pastor Dionne no longer had to envision the next chapter of Declare Victory alone. Pastor Royce joined the DV family with a heart to serve, cover, strengthen, build, and help carry the vision forward.
Today, Pastors Royce and Dionne Goree stand together as one unit, believing God has empowered them as a team to take Declare Victory into its next season.
Their individual strengths complement one another. Their experiences have prepared them. Their faith anchors them. And their shared commitment to Jesus Christ keeps the mission bigger than either of them.
This is not about one person standing in front while another stands behind.
They are building together.
Love. Life. Victory.
Their story represents three words that have become inseparable:
LOVE. LIFE. VICTORY.
Love brought them together.
Life gave them individual experiences, lessons, victories, losses, wisdom, and testimonies to bring into their union.
And Victory is the assignment they now carry together.
What began with Victorious Church and what grew through Declare Victory is now preparing for another expression of ministry:
VICTORY CITY
Victory City represents a new chapter and an expanding vision—a place where prayer, worship, biblical teaching, discipleship, leadership development, family, community, evangelism, and service can come together.
Pastors Royce and Dionne believe the next level of Declare Victory isn't simply about becoming bigger.
It's about reaching farther, discipling deeper, loving stronger, developing more leaders, serving more people, and creating opportunities for others to discover and fulfill their Kingdom assignments.
The vision that God began through prayer continues to unfold.
And now, they carry it together.
Two Have Become One
One marriage.
One team.
One faith.
One Kingdom.
One mission.
Pastors Royce and Dionne Goree have become one in Love, one in Life, and one in Victory.
Their story is still being written, and so is the story of Declare Victory.
