Galatians 5:22-23 New International Version (NIV)
22Â But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23Â gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Â
John 15 4-11
John 15 New International Version (NIV)
The Vine and the BranchesÂ
Â
4Â Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
5Â âI am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6Â If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7Â If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8Â This is to my Fatherâs glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
9Â âAs the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10Â If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Fatherâs commands and remain in his love. 11Â I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.
Â
The Joy FormulaÂ
Joy is inherently yoursÂ
Â
You have to see the big picture.Â
Â
Decide the situation will not steal your joy.Â

Jesus Talks With a Samaritan Woman
4Â Now Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that he was gaining and baptizing more disciples than Johnâ 2Â although in fact it was not Jesus who baptized, but his disciples. 3Â So he left Judea and went back once more to Galilee.
4Â Now he had to go through Samaria. 5Â So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. 6Â Jacobâs well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon.
7Â When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, âWill you give me a drink?â 8Â (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.)
9Â The Samaritan woman said to him, âYou are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?â (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.[a])
10Â Jesus answered her, âIf you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.â
11Â âSir,â the woman said, âyou have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? 12Â Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?â
13Â Jesus answered, âEveryone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14Â but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.â
15Â The woman said to him, âSir, give me this water so that I wonât get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.â
16Â He told her, âGo, call your husband and come back.â
17Â âI have no husband,â she replied.
Jesus said to her, âYou are right when you say you have no husband. 18Â The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.â
19Â âSir,â the woman said, âI can see that you are a prophet. 20Â Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.â
21Â âWoman,â Jesus replied, âbelieve me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22Â You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23Â Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24Â God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.â
25Â The woman said, âI know that Messiahâ (called Christ) âis coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.â
26Â Then Jesus declared, âI, the one speaking to youâI am he.â

Galatians 5 13-26Â King James Version (KJV)
13Â For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
14Â For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
15Â But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
16Â This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
17Â For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
18Â But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
19Â Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20Â Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21Â Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22Â But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23Â Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24Â And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25Â If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26Â Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

Romans 12:1-2, 4-8Â New International Version (NIV)
A Living Sacrifice
12Â Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of Godâs mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to Godâthis is your true and proper worship. 2Â Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what Godâs will isâhis good, pleasing and perfect will.
Â
4Â For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5Â so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6Â We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your[a]faith; 7Â if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8Â if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead,[b] do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

Galatians 5:22-26 New International Version (NIV)
22Â But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23Â gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24Â Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25Â Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26Â Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
Â
MessageÂ
Galatians 5:22-26 The Message (MSG)
22-23Â But what happens when we live Godâs way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchardâthings like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely.
23-24Â Legalism is helpless in bringing this about; it only gets in the way. Among those who belong to Christ, everything connected with getting our own way and mindlessly responding to what everyone else calls necessities is killed off for goodâcrucified.
25-26Â Since this is the kind of life we have chosen, the life of the Spirit, let us make sure that we do not just hold it as an idea in our heads or a sentiment in our hearts, but work out its implications in every detail of our lives. That means we will not compare ourselves with each other as if one of us were better and another worse. We have far more interesting things to do with our lives. Each of us is an original.
